First Church supports our neighbors in Kenya

The Kenya Clean Water in Schools project is teaming with Rotary to build rainwater harvest systems in six schools serving a total of 4400 students near Nakuru, Kenya. Additionally, the project will deliver washable feminine projects through the local Days-for-Girls Enterprise, handwashing stations and water filters. Gray water captured in new ponds will be used to irrigate new vegetable gardens. Training will be provided on the operation and maintenance of the equipment. A last critical step will be education of the students and faculty on best hygiene practices, delivered in the local tribal tongue. Donations, including those from First Church and Rotary matching grant funds, are currently about $64,000 of the needed $86,000. Funding is needed by year-end to fully Implement the project.
