Get to Know Rev. Jamielee Demske
Part 2
As we prepare to welcome Rev. Jamielee Demske and her family in July, we asked her a few questions to help everyone get to know her better. Check back every week to learn something new!
Hi again, it’s Rev. Jamielee and I write this in the midst of our move to you! While this move certainly isn’t our first, it seems to get more and more complex the more people (and animals) we add.
When I first moved to Colorado in 2014 to attend Iliff School of Theology, it was just my husband, Jordan, Addy and I. We’d met at a birthday party and gotten married just before our move from Nebraska where we’d been living. Jordan’s biggest packing burden are his abundance of tools and gardening things—he loves to be outside and get his hands in the dirt. His daughter and my stepdaughter Addy, only with us during holidays and the summer, brought with her every single stuffed animal that has ever existed, artfully dusted with craft supplies. She still loves crafts, painting, and now reading as a 16-year-old. Along with us on that first move came Moony, our old tuxedo cat and my boxes and boxes of books.
By the next time we moved, this time to be closer to my first appointment in Wash Park, we’d collected another critter companion—Cora Mae, the brown dog and best Christmas present I have yet to receive. She loves running very fast in large circles, which we call “pterydactyl time”. While we lived there and filled our days with walks around the Cherry Creek Trail, we acquired another cat through the mysterious ‘Cat Distribution System’. (This is the phenomenon in which cats find their owners without being directly requested.) Ed, named for Ed Chigliak from Northern Exposure, showed up on our doorstep in the middle of a snowstorm looking for a home. It ended up being ours.
When we finally moved to Montana, we brought with us a new addition to our family, little Miss Juniper (Junie Bee for short), a wild and sweet two year old, who couldn’t wait to see all that “Montana Laurel” would have to offer her. Since then, she has grown into an almost 5-year-old, full of wiles and wonder. She loves science, the outdoor loves, building things and creating things just like her big sister.
As we prepare to move back to Colorado, to an exciting new adventure in Fort Collins, we realize how abundantly blessed we’ve been while we were in Montana. In Laurel, we acquired quite a few fish (Jordan has quite a few interesting favorites hiding out in our big tank, be sure to ask about Jeff Goldblum, the Apostles and the snails.) and an addition to our Brown Dog Squad, a little guy named Winston Churchill. We added to our family again with our little Montanan Man, Joshualee, but he moves so fast, you’ll only manage Josh. Right now he’s crawling at high speeds, but by the time you meet him in person, he may be walking right past.
Each and every one of us (at least the human ones) are so excited to be making our way to you soon, and we hope you know how much fun our family hopes to share with you.
See you soon!
