The New Testament in Donkeys: Big Questions, Unexpected Teachers

This year’s Hagen Lecture, titled The New Testament in Donkeys, invites us into that question through an unexpected lens. By paying close attention to the humble (and surprisingly important) appearances of donkeys in the New Testament, we’ll explore how stories work, how meaning is shaped, and why interpretation matters. Eric Smith, Professor of Early Christian Texts and Traditions at Iliff School of Theology will lead us in a journey full of deep insight and unusual teachers.

Rather than offering quick answers, this lecture creates space to:

-Think critically about scripture

-Reflect on how context shapes meaning

-Consider how faithful reading can be both thoughtful and curious

Join us on Wednesday, February 4th at 6 pm for a lecture in our Sanctuary followed by a Q&A and reception afterwards in Fellowship Hall. Childcare will be available by request—let us know by January 23rd so we can plan well.
