Putnam Elementary
Our church has been supporting Putnam Elementary with special event volunteers, classroom help, appreciating teachers and funding supplies and programs as needed for over 17 years because this student body faces the highest economic and equity need of all elementary schools in our City.
You must be registered and pass a simple background check before volunteering.

Putnam Elementary Volunteer Opportunities
MAY
Friday the 22nd: Field Day - Sign up to lead an activity created by the PE teacher at one station with multiple classes. Teachers will manage student behavior. 3-4 volunteers needed! Volunteers can do one or both sessions: 9:00 to 11:10/3rd - 5th Grades, 12:30 to 2:40/K-2nd Grades

UPCOMING
AUGUST: School starts Wednesday, August 19, and it is likely to be HOT in classrooms. Putnam owns swamp coolers, but they need to be filled daily. Watch for a signup in early August! Last year we had a wonderful team so it wasn’t too much work for any one of us.
SEPTEMBER: Look for a signup to help check out books and shelve returns. Putnam has lost their funding for a full-time library and computer teacher. This spring we proved we could get enough volunteers to cover weekly shifts for grades K-2. The principal hopes we can expand the program to cover all grades next year.
LEGO Robotics club, led by our church, may start in late September, if there is funding for after school transportation.
OCTOBER: Vision and Hearing Screening help needed, Scholastic Book Fair help needed.
