Faith Family Hospitality: Our Love at Work

Through our Easter Offering this year, we donated $135,000 to the Family Housing Network toward the goal of creating permanent space for housing families in transition. Thanks in part to our generosity, FHN’s dream has been fulfilled and they will be hosting families for Thanksgiving 2026 at the new facility nearby. Phase 1 has been a smashing success!

Now let’s join together in Phase 2 and resume our role as hosts in 2027, but now hosting at FHN’s Myrtle Street facility, not at First Church. Our volunteer roles remain basically the same, and we provide our services during four separate weeks a year. While the roles remain the same, all the job descriptions change for the better. Thanks to hosting at FHN instead of at our church, the volunteer processes are now streamlined and tasks will be easier to execute.

Our Faith Family Hospitality team leaders need our help in three areas:

• Dinner Preparation/Cleanup (2-4 volunteers): Under the Coordinator’s guidance and planning, dinner hosts will bring or prepare on-site meals for the families and then clean up following the meal.

• Evening Hosting (minimum 1 host): This position is a pivotal role in which the Host interacts between the families and the Dinner team. Think of it as the “maître d” of the dinner meal.

• Overnight Hosting (1 host): This volunteer reports by 8:00 p.m. and sleeps on-site through morning, being present in the event of any needs that might arise.

With the exception of Overnight Host, the volunteer work shifts involve just a few hours of time once per quarter and will only be required 4 times per year. We’d love to have you on the team. To learn more, contact CommunityEngagement@FirstChurchFC.org.
