Lenten Devotional Study: Sacred Self Care

This Lent, you’re invited into a gentler way of moving through the season through a devotional study of Sacred Self-Care by Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes. This series explores the spiritual truth that tending to our bodies, boundaries, relationships, and joy is not selfish, but sacred—especially in a world that asks so much of us.

We’ll offer two large-group discussion options led by Rev. Jamielee: Wednesdays at noon (hybrid—in person in The Parlor and on Zoom) and Wednesdays at 7:00 pm (Zoom only). Groups will meet for six weeks, from February 25 through April 1, with a slightly abbreviated final session during Holy Week. Participants are welcome to move between large-group sessions as schedules allow.

We’ll also offer small groups of 5–6 people, led by members of our church community, meeting on leader-determined schedules. These groups emphasize relationship-building and shared reflection over the season.

Upon registration, you’ll receive a simple reading calendar for the daily devotions, which begin February 15. Reflections are short and accessible, designed to fit into real lives. Books are available through the church, or you’re welcome to purchase your own.

This study is open to everyone—especially those who feel stretched thin, longing for rest, or simply in need of a more spacious Lent. Sign up using the link below.
